Private Pilot - Minimum FAA Requirements

40 hours flight time
20 hours of instruction with a certified instructor
10 hours solo flight


Hold at least a private pilot certificate
50 hours of cross country flight time as PIC (Pilot in Command)
40 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time
15 hours of instruction with a certified instructor


Hold a private pilot certificate
250 hours of total flight time
100 hours of flight time as a PIC
50 hours of cross country flight time as PIC
20 hours of instruction to include 10 hours of instrument training


Hold either a Commercial or ATP pilot certificate and an Instrument Rating
